The exhibition stages a meeting between two artistic worlds that seem to move at different speeds. Vast canvases unfold across the walls, while fragile miniatures rest in archival tables—drawers, portable lights, and careful surfaces inviting a slower, closer gaze. The space operates as a double landscape: two scales of perceiving terrain appearing at once, never fully merging yet quietly informing one another.

Between 1944 and 2001 the Lithuanian landscape underwent radical transformations—war, reconstruction, mass land reclamation, and industrial pollution reshaped both territory and perception. Within these conditions, Meškaitytė and Piekuras developed distinct ways of looking. Their landscapes resist spectacle; instead they record attentiveness, where vast fields and intimate fragments alike become acts of observation.

The architecture amplifies this contrast. Monumental works hold the room at a distance, while archival tables draw viewers into intimate encounters—light falling onto miniature surfaces like a quiet act of excavation. Landscape emerges not only as a subject but as a method: a way of lingering, documenting, and briefly escaping the pressures of its time.
The exhibition forms a double landscape— paintings on the walls and fragile miniatures under light—two scales of looking meeting in one room.
